Lawncare
Program
Jamison Pest and Lawn partners with lawn
industry professionals and manufacturers to develop programs
that create a thicker, greener, more beautiful lawn. Jamison
is not a one size fits all company so we always provide a complete
Lawn Analysis prior to our submitting an estimate
for you. Your lawn program will be based upon 7 “timed
visits,” each having targeted goals for your turf, grass,
or lawn. Here is how it works!

Tree
& Shrub Care Program
Do
you pay regular attention to shrub care? If your shrubs were to
develop an insect or disease problem (scale, white flies, powdery
mildew, leaf spot, root rot, spider mites, or bag worms etc.)
would you know what to do or more importantly, what to use to
control it?
Jamison Pest and Lawn has trained professionals
and a carefully developed, agronomically sound Tree & Shrub
Care Program that will put your mind at ease. All it takes is
one call for us to develop a healthy plan for the care of your
small trees and shrubs. We’ll make a thorough inspection
of your landscaping needs and carefully develop your 5 step program.
Here’s how our Tree and Shrub Care Program works.
Round One: Dormant
oil for the control of “over wintering insects”
Round Two: Balanced
spring fertilization and feeding to help plants recover from
winter damage and maximize springtime growth
Round Three: Insect
and disease control for the elimination and prevention of damage
they cause
Round Four: Insect
and disease control for the problems associated with small trees
and shrubs during this time of year
Round Five: Deep root
feeding to encourage a strong root system for the coming winter
months and to promote a strong spring start up growth
During each Round, our technician will
inspect and assess the present condition of your shrubs to address
new or emerging needs coming from such areas as insects, disease,
or seasonal problems.

Fescue
Seeding Program
In the mid-south region, our warm, season, turfgrasses Zoysia
and Bermuda are better suited for our climate and require more
than 6 hours of direct sunlight to prosper. Fescue on the other
hand, will grow well in the shade of your trees and can eliminate
those “undesirable bare ground areas” under the
trees.
The Fescue family of grasses is the only grass available that
can be sustained on a year round basis in heavily shaded areas.
Fescue, regardless of variety, will thin out over time. That
is why it is necessary to overseed periodically to increase
turf density. The average period between seedings is 1 to 3
years depending upon a variety of factors such as sunlight,
irrigation, and fertilization.
For optimal results, fescue seeding should be done from September
15th through October 31st. This allows the fescue seedlings
time to germinate and begin growth during the last warm weeks
of the fall. These seedlings will then have time to grow and
reach maturity, as well as develop a good strong root system,
so they may be able to withstand the stress from the cold winter
months as well as the heat of the coming summer. Due to the
lack of time to develop an adequate root system, and the high
mortality rate of seed planted in the spring, it is our policy
that we will not perform fescue seeding in the Spring.
The Fescue Seeding Process:
- "It is better to water less frequen tly (once or twice a
week) for a longer period of time, than to water every day
for a short time. Infrequent deep watering promotes greater
root development.
- "Wait until the soil becomes dry before watering. One of
the biggest mistakes homeowners make is watering too often.
It is better to wait until the soil is dry to a depth of 3"
to 4" before watering. This will promote deeper root growth
and a stronger root system." A good goal for watering your
lawn is to apply 1 to 1 ½ inches of water per week during
summer growing season. Exact amounts will vary due to soil
types, soil compaction, etc. For more help on your specific
conditions and needs please contact
us.
- "Slope and soil compaction will affect watering amounts/time.
If your turf does not want to accept water and the water begins
to run off quickly, you should consider aeration for your
lawn.
- "It is helpful to know how much water your sprinkler puts
out. If you are already one of our valued customers, just
call our office for your free rain gauge!
- "We should all remember, that water is our most precious
resource and a lot of the water we use to irrigate our lawns
and shrubs is wasted! The helpful watering tips above will
help insure the health and beauty of your landscaping and
prevent our most precious resource from being wasted!

Soil
Sampling Service
There are times when despite optimal growing conditions coupled
with good care, your turfgrass will just not maintain a healthy
posture or appearance...and it can happen for no apparent reason!
In cases like this, a soil sample could lead us to the solution
for a non visible problem. In other situations like bare ground
for no apparent reason, soil sampling can be a great tool.
Often, a soil sample is not needed as our trained professionals
will be able to diagnose the problem and prepare a solution.

Insect
and Disease Control
Insect and disease control can play a major role in having the
beautiful lawn you deserve. Our lawn care professionals are
trained and certified to diagnose and address these problems.
After diagnosis we are happy to share our findings and offer
a solution.
But why isn’t insect and
disease control included as a part of my regular program?
That’s a great question, and there are several reasons.
First, the EPA and state law mandates that each insect or disease
infestation be identified as a “target pest” prior
to the application of a “product or chemical,” meaning,
no routine or preventive application of a pesticide
may be made for problems that may or may not occur.
Most insect and disease problems are not readily predictable from
season to season and therefore, inclusion of such treatments within
a regular program is outside of the law.
